This game have lots of unlockable features, such as new characters, new costumes for the characters and new game modes. Ralf Jones have a special costume which resembles Marco Rossi, while Clark Still have a special costume resembling Tarma Roving. Both costumes can be unlocked by beating the Story Mode or any challenge from the Challenge Mode. Fio Germi is also a hidden, playable character in this game, similar to Marco in Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum. She can be unlocked by beating the Story Mode. There is also a special challenge in the Challenge Mode, where the player must beat a Metal Slug using only his own arsenal of moves. The more you advance on the challenge, the more difficult it gets. Various hazards are added to the arena, such as landmines and lasers. The Metal Slug will also attack, either by trampling or firing it's cannon.
