The Japonese Assault Force consists of quick-moving units within Metal Slug Attack's "Independent" faction. Initially appearing as part of the Extra Ops titled Score Attack!!, these were largely unavailable until Another Story (barring later Daily Login rewards, and very rare POW Rescue rewards). Players can obtain parts by completing either of "Utopia"'s first two levels on any difficulty.
They are almost identical to regular Samurai Infantry, weak for their AP cost, and generally poor at combat.
However, if 4 is unlocked, they spawn at the front line - immediately appearing in front of the nearest enemy ground unit (or at their base, whichever is closer). Unlike Mummies and Dog Mummies (who share a similar ability), Japonese Assault Force soldiers drop from the air (essentially giving them a brief moment of invulnerability). Their low AP cost makes them hard to deal with at the start of a match, since enemy units can't harm the soldier until he takes his sword out. The W.Soldier is highly effective against them, as they're immune to their knockback capabilities.
If the player doesn't have the trooper (either the unit or unlocked 4), it is best to stick with the normal and dog mummies, as these units don't require any unique items. The Japonese Assault Force requires unique items for their skills, which can take a while to obtain.
Assault Force troopers are devastatingly effective when used to pin the enemy at their base long enough to deploy a Balor nearby.
Japanese Sword (Spread): Relatively quick and powerful melee-range swing that damages all units in range.
Bomb (Spread): Hurls three powerful medium-range projectiles that follow a very high parabolic trajectory, landing on the ground and then rolling along it. Exploding on impact, they can easily destroy both aerial and ground enemies. If 2 is unlocked, these cannonballs may knock back enemies upon detonation.
