Lone Assault is the thirty-seventh and penultimate mission in Metal Slug: 2nd Mission. One prisoner exists in this stage.
Mission Synopsis[]
Gimlet finds the Rebel's launch pad and proceeds his mission. Red Eye is peeved that she has to retreat and retaliates by going further in of the Rebel Fortress. After crawling inside and dropping down, they land on a yellow platform that moves in a set direction. The platform soon turns left and green platforms beside it can be stood on and jumped over; the prisoner is found above the leftmost green platform.
The next section is boarding a trolley and carefully jumping over instant-kill spikes. A warning sign hovers above forked paths; taking the wrong railing will have the player fatally crash into a wall. Completing this section advances the player to a weaving corridor with conveyor belts. Taking the lowest path of the trolley section leads to a secret fight with Macba. Both sections exit out to a small sewer area.
The last part is an open hallway with air bombs floating in the middle of gaps and turrets at the end of them. The mission ends in a fight with the Metal Strider.
If Rumi and Hyakutaro have not been found yet, Cpt. Kennedy (Prisoner #98) will remind the player about it. There are no prisoners in the next and final mission.

It’s Red Eye. The last building, it was a reactor fuel facility. And I mean, “it was.” Then I found a suspicious door. There’s no hook up to the reactor so it uses no fuel. Creepy, eh? I’m going in! |
