Dr Moureau's Island is a location in Metal Slug 3, where the first mission A Couple's Love Land takes place. A once-popular tourist destination turned into a nuclear weapons testing site, the island is nestled in the Pacific Ocean.

Information

The Rebel Army arrives at the desolate island, hoping to salvage any leftover nuclear weapons, but are beset instead with the island's mutated wildlife, victims of radioactive fallout caused by previously conducted nuclear tests, using these at their disposal against the Regular Army. Marco Rossi and Tarma Roving of the P.F Squad, along with Eri Kasamoto and Fio Germi of the S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S are deployed in the island in their mission to stop General Morden's third attempt at a coup d'etat of the world's governments.

The level has three alternative paths that can be chosen by the player:

Underwater passage: By jumping inside the Slug Mariner, the player travels through the depths of the island fighting against jellyfish and Ohumein-Congas, among other dangers.

Swamp: Following the main path will lead the player to face off more Chowmein-Congas and Huge Locusts. A ferry travel is then made in order to reach the other side of the island.

Abandoned ship: Instead of jumping on the ferry, the player can go up and enter a capsule, taking him to an abandoned ship where Ohumein-Congas and Chowmein-Congas live, feasting on rotten fish cargo.

No matter which path is taken, the player will encounter the Huge Hermit at the end of the level. However, taking the abandoned ship or the underwater passage will result in the player being able to use a Slugnoid to the boss battle. Should they decide to take the ferry, the player will instead obtain a SV-001 Type-R.

Notes

  • The location itself is a direct reference to the classic 1896 H.G Wells novel The Island of Dr. Moureau, which featured similar themes of experimentation and mutation of resident animal life.
